The things I like

Mon Oct 26, 2009, 6:13 AM
  • Mood: Hopeless
  • Listening to: Mantus - Wie ein Engel
  • Drinking: Water
(oh and my mood is not hopeless, only DA is hating me and I can't change the mood for some reason)

I wrote a text for my profile on some other page:

I like rain, when it’s falling gently upon my head and shoulders. On late summer days when it’s already dark outside and the sound of the raindrops falling is the only sound – then I love to leave the house and wander through the deserted streets and sing lowly. Some may think me insane for this, but I really love it as well as I love snow. Well snow is all cold and it isn’t that nice when you’re outside for more than half an hour, your shoes and socks soaked with cold water, but snow is too beautiful to watch falling from a window, curled up in a warm blanket. I like snow and rain best, just like I prefer winter and autumn with its falling leaves to summer. I loath summer..I hate being outside when it’s all hot and the air so dense. The only nice aspect of summer and also of spring (which I do like but not all the time) are flowers. Flowers are the most beautiful and fragile things, I like lilies, chrysanthemums and roses best. I’m so to say obsessed with flowers: in every text I write there have to be flowers – flowers that die, flowers that bloom, flowers that are picked, flowers on graves, chains of flowers – it’s rather insane. Then one more thing out nature I love (I love nature in general: movies with lots of scenes out in nature, nature in art… etc) is wind. Wind is a magnificent thing. Even when I’m full of sorrow, totally stressed or something else…when I go out for a walk in the fields and wind is blowing through my hair, stroking my face and eyelids, sometimes gently sometimes rather rough – then I can forget anything for these moments. I like art. Art is a huge point in my life. I love to draw and I always did. There was barely a day in my life on which I didn’t at least doodle something. Art helps me to express myself, this is not always working but art also makes me forget about things and fills me with something that makes me feel good and light. Of course I also love art created by others, though I must say that I have an averseness to modern art. I know that modern art, surrealism, dadaism and all that stuff also expresses things but it just looks rude for me and it doesn’t touch me. I prefer “the old masters” like Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. Recently I also discovered J. W. Waterhouse whom I also adore, just like all of his pictures, for example those of Ophelia or the Lady of Shalott. Apart from art I also have something for literature in form of novels or other books and poems. I read a lot when I have the time. I’m a hardcore fan of Anne Rice, especially her Vampirechronicles, but also of her other books and I worship Seneca, whom I got to know through my Latin lessons (which I adore as well). Poets I love a lot, mostly english poets like Shakespeare, W.H Auden and others, but I also like Catullus, a roman poet and Sappho, a greek, female one. Music. Music is another thing which would be taking colours from my life didn’t it exist. Sadly I can’t play any instrument though I always wanted to play the piano when I was younger but I love to listen to it! I hate the common radio music. Instead I love classical music as well as baroque and many different genres from rock to darkwave and gothic. In fact I don’t care much about the genre but rather about the lyrics or the melody of a song. It has to touch me – then it is good music. I love to dream and to make things happen in my head which will never be possible in the “real world”.
I love to be alive though. Once I didn’t. But I think I got it now. I think life is the greatest present we got and that we shouldn’t throw it away out of no reason. I try to make the best of it. It doesn’t always work but at least no one can tell me that I didn’t try.
